Solar Thermal Hot Water Training
GASTEC at CRE (GaC)
Bring the power of the sun to your business
The Country's economy may be suffering under the recession, and energy prices and climate change are never far from the headlines. Many householders are anxious to do their bit for the environment (and their wallets) and solar thermal hot water systems are often seen as a cost-effective and proven low-carbon technology that doesn't require a huge capital outlay.
The market for these systems is growing strongly. The UK installed 81,000m2 of solar collectors in 2008, an increase of 50% on the previous year. The total installed area of solar thermal panels in the UK lies at around 386,000m2.
However, the UK is still far behind its European neighbours. We have the same installed capacity as the Netherlands (but 6 times the population) and less than that of Denmark. Austria has 4 times as much installed capacity as the UK, and Germany a world-leading 28 times.
GASTEC at CRE now provide Solar Thermal training and assessment here in Cheltenham.
