GASTEC at CRE (GaC)
Here at GaC we test the full range of solid fuels including bituminous coals, anthracites, manufactured smokeless fuels, wood and all manner of biomass-related products.
Tests are carried out to long established British Standard methods in a range of domestic appliances, including open fires, room-heaters, boilers and cookers.
Typical performance criteria include:-
- Ignition time
- Heat output
- Banking performance
- Ash characteristics
We carry out testwork for HETAS Ltd (Heating Equipment Testing and Approval Scheme) for inclusion in their Official Guide to Solid Fuel Products and Services.
GaC is also the only accredited UK test-house for smoke emission testing on candidate 'smokeless' fuels, as authorised by the Department of the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs [DEFRA] for use in Clean Air Act Smoke Control Areas www.uksmokecontrolareas.co.uk.
